![]() This year Apple did a much better job of keeping things under wraps. Last year there were plenty of leaks ahead of WWDC which left Apple with very few surprises to Spring. However, we will state where Apple has indicated that a feature will be only available on one of the platforms. Many of the below features will be coming to both iOS and iPadOS, so it makes sense to discuss the two platforms together. Read on for our summary of some highlights of today's announcements. What we didn't get today, was any hardware news, so those waiting to place an order for the much-anticipated redesigned MacBook Pro will have to wait a little longer. This is the second year Apple held a virtual event in October, but I don’t expect a third event this November, as we saw in 2020.Apple today kicked off its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with the traditional keynote presentation.Īs was the case last year, WWDC 2021 is an all-virtual event, with the keynote consisting of prerecorded video presentations that focused primarily on the next major revisions of Apple's operating systems for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. So be patient and do not make any purchase decisions based on them alone. Please remember leaks are just that, leaks. There are other products that are supposed to be unveiled at this event, but from what I have heard, these are the only ones we will see this time. I can tell you, though, that we will see them before the end of the year. I would bet that it will be at this event, but the truth is that no one knows. In fact, they have been ready for a long time, so now it’s up to Apple when they’ll be unveiled. If there’s one other product that’s been anticipated for months, it’s the AirPods 3. As you can see, sometimes our job is not that simple, so I’ll leave it up to you to decide what to believe. However, a few days ago, I learned from a supply chain source that Apple has ramped up production of the Mac mini. He told me that Apple’s original plan was to launch the Mac mini along with the new MacBooks, but that they eventually decided to delay the launch to “let them shine.” I received information a few weeks ago from a person involved in marketing. What I can do is share that information with you and let you make your own decision. Let’s talk about the redesigned Mac mini. I’ll be honest with you I can neither confirm nor deny whether we will see it this Monday, as I have received conflicting information about it. But, if you want one of these Macs, you’ll want to pre-order it fast, because supply is not plentiful and is expected to be outstripped by demand. Overall, I would say that these are great devices that will definitely be worth the cost. Other ports like HDMI and an SD card reader are also expected. I have also heard that these computers will be the first Apple Macs to feature mini-LED technology and ProMotion. ![]() This new design replaces the usual thermal block welded to a tube with a single, more efficient part. Combine that with a redesigned cooling system that Apple has been working on, and believe me when I tell you that heat will not be an issue. You may be thinking that this will require high-grade cooling, and you are partially right.Īs we have already seen with Apple’s M1 computers, these chips are extremely efficient, and temperatures are much more controllable. At the time of writing, though, I can not confirm that. I am told there will be 16- and 32-core GPU configurations, with the latter only available on the 16-inch version. They will be powered by the “M1X,” a chip with eight high-performance cores and two efficiency cores that will, as Apple puts it in the event invite, “unleash” unprecedented performance in a MacBook. And I firmly believe they will be game-changing. I am 100% sure we will see them on Monday. Let us start with the obvious-those redesigned MacBook Pros. So let me break it all down and tell you what you should and should not expect at this upcoming event. There are a lot of products that people want to see at this virtual event, including the highly anticipated MacBook Pro redesign in the form of 14-inch and 16-inch computers, a redesigned Mac mini, AirPods 3, an iPod, and even a gaming console. Apple announced on Tuesday that it will be holding its next event on Monday, October 18.
